During the re-development of the Happy Valley area in Hong Kong in 1993, local authorities were faced with a major dilemna: two giant banyan trees (Ficus Microcarpa), several centuries old, were to be cut down.

Since the people of HK had always valued these magnificent trees and considered them as part of their cultural heritage, saving these two specimens by transplanting them was contemplated, and an international consultation was launched. The jury acknowledged the viability of such an undertaking and entrusted us with the realization of this technical feat.
