Project
context
the stade du 11 novembre hosts an official competition
The Stade du 11 Novembre, inaugurated in 2010 for the African Cup of Nations, is Angola’s main stadium with a capacity of around 50,000. It is regularly used for international matches and major club competitions, notably by Petro de Luanda, one of the country’s most successful clubs.
In 2023, Angola was chosen to host a match in the new African Football League (formerly the African Super League), a competition organized by CAF with FIFA support, bringing together 8 of the continent’s top clubs. The Petro de Luanda – TP Mazembe quarter-final marked the stadium’s return to the continental stage.
To ensure that the pitch would meet this deadline, the Angolan sports authorities entrusted Gregori International with the express refurbishment of the pitch. The project, which took six months to complete, called on specific techniques to provide a playing surface in line with FIFA/CAF requirements.
This project reflects Angola’s ambition to maintain its sports facilities at an international level, while drawing on the expertise of recognized players in the field of high-level pitches.
