context

pillar of Beninese sport

In 2004, the French Embassy in Benin launched a project to strengthen the city of Porto-Novo’s sports facilities. The 15,000-capacity Charles de Gaulle stadium regularly hosts home matches for first-division clubs such as AS Dragons FC, Le Mogas 90 FC and AS Porto-Novo, as well as matches for the U20 and U17 national teams.

This project has enabled the stadium to be equipped with a natural grass pitch, contributing to the development of local soccer and the organization of sporting events in Benin’s capital.
