context
Melreese Golf Course, a course in the heart of the city
The Melreese Golf Course, also known as the International Links Melreese Country Club, was an iconic 18-hole public course located in the Grapeland Heights neighborhood near Miami International Airport. Designed in the 1960s, it spanned some 147 acres of rolling terrain, with wide fairways, undulating greens, and a layout punctuated by bodies of water (“five lakes”) that came into play on many holes.
The course was accessible to players of all levels, offering several tees to match the difficulty, as well as a relaxed yet enterprising atmosphere, ideal for amateurs and more experienced golfers alike. Club facilities included a large putting green, driving range, pro-shop and practice facilities.
