Project
context

the national stadium on september 24

With a capacity of around 15,000, it hosts matches for the national soccer team as well as for the main local clubs. In addition to soccer, the stadium is also used for various cultural events and official ceremonies, making it a central venue for the country’s sporting and social life.

The Estadio Nacional 24 de Setembro is the central sports stadium in Guinea-Bissau, hosting the country’s main national and international competitions. In 2023, in the run-up to the 2024 African Cup of Nations qualifiers and the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, the sporting authorities embarked on an emergency renovation of the pitch. The aim: to guarantee a playing surface that complies with CAF and FIFA standards within an extremely short timeframe, in order to be able to host the planned official matches.

Gregori International was mobilized for this intervention in FAST TRACK mode, with the mission of restoring the playing surface in record time. Relying on proven technical expertise and perfectly mastered logistics, the teams succeeded in rehabilitating the stadium’s pitch while respecting schedule constraints. This targeted operation enabled the country to maintain its capacity to host international competitions, while restoring the stadium’s full functionality in the service of Guinea-Bissau soccer.
