Teslim
Stadium

Nigeria

Named in honour of Teslim ‘Thunder’ Balogun, a pioneer of Nigerian football, the stadium plays an important role in hosting local and national competitions, while also serving as a venue for cultural and social events. Its management and successive renovations are part of the Lagos State government’s public policies aimed at promoting sport as a lever for social cohesion, youth development and urban influence. As such, the Teslim Balogun Stadium goes beyond its sporting function to become a symbolic instrument of the local authorities’ commitment to the social, cultural and identity development of the Lagos metropolis.
