Located in the Gwarsha district of Benghazi, the Al Watan Shooting and Equestrian Club is now one of the most dynamic sporting and cultural centers in eastern Libya. This modern center combines horse riding, shooting sports, and the preservation of Libyan traditions.
BENGHAZI, October 20-21, 2025 (WAM) – The Emirates Arabian Horse Society (EAHS), in cooperation with the National Authority for Equestrian, Camel and Heritage Sports in Libya, is organizing the Al Watan Arabian Horse Championship, with the participation of numerous stud farms and owners representing various Libyan cities. – Announced number of participants: 122 horses from 37 owners.
This championship is part of the ongoing collaboration between the EAHS and the Libyan National Authority, reflecting both parties’ commitment to developing Arabian horse championships and promoting the shared cultural heritage represented by Arabian horses.

Al Watan Shooting and Equestrian Club: promoting sports disciplines linked to Libyan identity
Alongside the championship, a training program will begin on October 18, featuring workshops and specialized technical courses. These sessions will address key topics such as the role of the disciplinary committee, the duties of the ringmaster, and the responsibilities of the presenter. This program aims to strengthen the skills of those involved in organizing Arabian horse championships and to facilitate the exchange of expertise in presentation and judging, in accordance with standards.
The club has a riding arena specially designed for training, competition, and traditional demonstrations. It is used for both classical riding and horse racing and shows inspired by Bedouin heritage, which is deeply rooted in Libyan culture.
The club’s horse registration center, recognized by local equestrian authorities, allows owners, trainers, and riders in the eastern part of the country to register their horses and participate in official competitions. This administrative role reinforces the club’s position as a leading institution for the development of horse riding in Cyrenaica.
The club regularly participates in cultural and sporting events, such as the Libya Heritage Festival and the Knights of Dignity championship, a major equestrian event organized under the auspices of local authorities.
