Project
context

GREGORI INTERNATIONAL, originally a nursery operator, expert in horticultural engineering – Akouédo Nursery

The Akouédo nursery is at the heart of the exemplary conversion of Abidjan’s former landfill site into an urban park. Designed from the outset by landscape architect Niez Studio, this nursery, located at the far end of the site, has served as a living base for growing and housing the young plants – stecklings, cheese trees, badam trees, cocoa trees – needed to gradually green the park.

Thanks to this nursery, majestic plants have been replanted as construction progressed, helping to recreate the natural landscapes of Côte d’Ivoire: a forest of giants visible from an elevated footbridge, stretches of grassy savannah, and the Makoré wood populated by rare species. Much more than a mere technical support, this nursery is the ecological and symbolic pillar of the site’s resilience, enabling nature and communities to reconnect in a vast burst of regeneration.
